The ORIGINAL HIGH PRIEST on the wheels of steel toured Japan twice in 2005 and also did the massive BI-CONICALS TOUR in Europe that year too! Breakin out of his shell after these great collaborations he started his new CRIME DRAMA style experienced at his concert at ROTHKO with the most fab NOMI for her LOST IN LUST show in October.

 January 5 High Priest spins at ACE OF CLUBS 8:30-11:30 collaborating once again with the very special NOMI and her band along with BROOKLYN SOUL MAFIA. Damn the throwdown is gonna rock!! PRIEST is kickin that new CRIME DRAMA STYLE!!

The HIGH PRIEST is a DJ name given to NICHOLAS TAYLOR by his good friend and collaborater JEAN MICHEL BASQUIAT.
In several drawings by the dead artist you can spot the name that JEAN has written. In 1979 JEAN MICHEL BASQUIAT, MICHAEL HOLMAN, WAYNE CLIFFORD, VINCENT GALLO and NICK were in a downtown NEW YORK CITY band called GRAY. This imfamous band played at phenominal clubs in the city like THE MUDD CLUB, THE ROCK LOUNGE, HURRAH'S and SQUAT THEATER. They opened for such acts as THE LOUNGE LIZARDS and DNA.

         

HIGH PRIEST was once known as NICK NICE in the early eighties. He toured the East Coast with the likes of SOUL SONIC FORCE, GRAND MASTER FLASH, and FAB FIVE FREDDY. He was the house DJ for the NEW YORK CITY BREAKERS and was slated to appear on the second episode of the cult classic GRAFFITTI ROCK. 
In the photo below he put together a rap group with PHASE 2, NATE B, and VINCENT GALLO. 

                 

 Here we see a rare poster from a duet singing group that VINCE and NICK put together called TROUBLE DUECE. They brought the house down at MADAME ROSA'S on February 18, 1985. Vince and  Nick had recorded many of their songs back then and Nick still cherishes the rare tapes to be released  when Vince and Nick chose to do so.

               

And below is some of the press releases for the much touted TV show GRAFFITTI ROCK. Produced by MICHAEL HOLMAN this cult TV show is collected by HIP HOP fanatics all over the world. On the top of the middle page is the dancers of the pilot episode, and then clockwise is MICHAEL HOLMAN, DJ DST, and in the middle is DJ HIGH PRIEST aka NICK NICE.
